Phariyago: “Women Rising” Association

Geographic situation. The village of PHARIYAGO is situated in the department of Bondigui, in the south-west region of Burkina Faso.

A community of Daughters of the Holy Spirit has been there since 2007. The Association “Women Rising” was officially recognized in 2009.Its objective is to help women become conscious of the importance of taking their place in society and dare to make their voice heard. Reports mobilize these women to fight against malaria, diarrhea and malnourishment: infant mortality remains at a high! Henceforth:

Project objective: The women’s slogan: “Together, let’s save our children”.

Needs:

Provide access to drinking water
Improve infant nutrition
Use local pharmaceutical products

Material needs: - Dressers and shelves to stock and conserve pharmaceutical products for emergency use. - Watertight containers for transporting these medicines to scattered villages. Pedagogical needs: - Publicity, posters, promotion to awaken people to the importance of drinking water - Formation in the production of nutritious food products like “Misola” flour produced locally with millet, soy, peanuts, completed with mineral salts and vitamins.

* Local Contribution: Women’s active participation, women organized themselves into associations, practicing micro-credit and producing local products.
