117 sisters, 13 communities (April 2008) - The USA Province celebrated the 100th anniversary of its foundation, from December 8, 2001 to December 8, 2002, with numerous events which gathered friends, benefactors, present and former members of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit Family to give thanks and share memories. As we prepare for the general Chapter 2008, we seem united in a desire to keep our vision broad, and our energies focused on our mission “to witness God’s tender love for all, especially the least favoured, that all may have life to the full”. - We have adopted a Corporate Stance Policy,

which involves education, dialogue, discernment and polling of the province on publicly debated issues that are in line with our charism and current focus, allowing province leadership to take a public stand in the name of the province on major justice issues. We have taken corporate stances against the Death Penalty and for the closing of the School of the Americas (Training School for torture. - The Justice, Non-violence and the Relationship with Creation Committees help the sisters to remain active and involved for as long as they are able, collaborating with those working for peace, justice, non-violence and in defense of Earth. - From 2002 to 2008, 38 men and women have made their covenants as DHS Associates and 13 women from as far away as Chile, have pronounced public vows as Consecrated Seculars in the DHS Family. - In order to meet the challenge of communicating across the distances -from a six hour drive to a six hour plane trip- we have turned to technology, becoming increasingly computer-literate, relying more and more on e-mail. The province has made a concerted effort toward greater international solidarity and exchange. We have made a special effort to become better acquainted with the DHS Family of the Vice-Province of Latin America. : sisters, Associates and Consecrated seculars have visited and established stronger ties with our neighbours to the South. We have had a Spirit-blessed past. Still today, we live a Spirit-filled presence. As we look to the future, we see challenges but also opportunities. The inner fire still burns.
