VICE-PROVINCE CAMEROON Vice-Provincial House : Vice-provincial House Galdima BP 753 MAROUA CAMEROON Tel : 99 80 01 72 vpfsemaroua@yahoo.fr
38 sisters, 10 communities. (April 2008)
- The fiftieth anniversary of the arrival of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit in North Cameroon was celebrated with joy on the 8th of December 2004. It was a key moment to reread our history, give thanks for the work of the Spirit, and rethink the mission.
- The vice-province went through a most distressing experience in the year 2007 : the death of Marie Hélène Le Bihan, vice-provincial since 2003 after 12 years as general councillor of the Congregation. By her courage, her example, her dynamism she has given us a new impetus.
- Signs of vitality are appearing with the arrival of young women of various origins who ask to enter the Congregation. The African sisters, a great number of whom are pursuing their academic, professional, theological studies, are engaged in education, healthcare, the promotion of unschooled young girls or girls with little schooling.
- Several communities are international : the Cameroonian novices go to Nigeria or Burkina Faso during their apostolic year and the Nigerian novices come to Cameroon. A session on the inculturation of the charism in Africa was given to 31 finally professed African sisters in Nigeria.
- The first Associates made their commitment in 2000. At present they are 21. The group is culturally, ethnically, professionally diversified and diversely involved. Our spirituality gives them a new impulse to carry on the responsibilities they assume at the service of their brothers and sisters in Church and in society.
