Meeting of the young DHS of Burkina
Our first meeting, based on the Initial Formation guidelines, was held at Diebougou on 27-29 December 2011. We were seven young DHS accompanied by sister Geneviève Guernion who played among us the same part as Mary played at the Cenacle.
In the course of our various exchanges, we made our own some of the convictions which the guidelines invite us to. We made other discoveries. Sister Geneviève stayed alongside us all through our times of sharing, explaining and answering our questions. In actual fact, the unity of life to which this stage of formation invites us is a long process: it will be throughout our religious life that we will gradually gain the equilibrium of life allying prayer, mission and community life. We also appreciated the opportunity the Church and above all the Congregation give us to better ensure our first steps in the following of Christ.
In the morning of 29 December, we stopped our activities to take part in the ordination of three young men of the diocese. The ceremony was held in the presence of a number of priests, religious women and lay Christians. In his homily, Mgr Der Raphael Dabire emphasized the message of Jesus to his disciples whom we are part of: “You will do this in memory of me”: love, forgive, serve, heal … like Him. He addressed the newly ordained, recalling the importance and urgency of friendly relationships among the sacerdotal teams: It will be to the love they will have among themselves and towards each and everyone that their priesthood will bear fruit to the greatest glory of God.
In the morning of 30 December, we all set off to our respective communities happy and keeping within our hearts the call to benefit to the most of the opportunities the stage of temporary formation grants us with.
