Nowhere have I felt it more than in the landscape of Saint-Claude, &#8211;<em>Department of Jura, FRANCE-<\/em>, a warm city in the hollow of majestic mountains crossed by wild and turbulent rivers. It is easy to understand why this beautiful corner of France attracts thousands of visitors every year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A land marked by the saints.<\/strong> Saint-Claude carries centuries of holiness on his soil. The body of Abbot Saint-Claude rests in the cathedral that bears his name. Well before him, the saints Romain and Lupicin and their sister Saint Yole lived there as monks and nuns, giving their entire lives to prayer and apostolate; Saint-Oyend then carried their legacy as successor. Although centuries have passed, the imprint of these holy lives is still felt in the city today, reminding us that holiness, once sown, does not fade away with time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>A living presence.<\/strong> In this sacred story, the Sisters Hospitallers of the Holy Spirit and then the Daughters of the Holy Spirit and their Associates have woven their own thread of discreet testimony. Their presence marks the city through the daily life of the Church: the catechism, the ministry of Holy Communion, visits to the elderly, care for the sick, attentive listening to trials and a faithful and constant support, offered without brilliance.<br \/><em><strong>At the heart of this presence is Sister Fran\u00e7oise ECUYE<\/strong>R<\/em> whose door is open to all who arrive unexpectedly. She lives as a prophet of today and tomorrow, bringing new life and hope in uncertain times, never counting the cost. In its simplicity, it embodies the Gospel: the conviction that each person, a member of the same human family, has his place at the table. She concretely gives her life to arouse life in others.\u00a0 She shares love with each person she meets, without hesitating to offer a glass of water before letting her resume her journey. One day, fifteen people showed up at his door: fifteen steps, fifteen hands placed on the doorbell and each was welcomed with a joy given and received, with little attentions shared freely with neighbors and friends.<br \/>As our Rule of Life reminds us: <em>&#8220;At the very heart of our relationship, in solitude as in communion, we adore the God who is Love, Love always given and received, Love shared.&#8221;<\/em> <span class=\"reference\">(RV art. 14, p. 6)<\/span> In the simplicity of a heart that gives freely and with joy, we discover a true house of charity where everyone is welcomed without limit or restriction. I could not help but notice that the houses of Saint-Claude are built on rock: a true image of how our charisma withstands any test and transmits its history from generation to generation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Pilgrimages of faith and know-how.<\/strong> The trip also took us beyond the city. On our way to Mass at Les Moussi\u00e8res, a small village in the mountains, with Father Maurice Marie Qu\u00e9r\u00e9, the cathedral\u2019s priest, we came across the remarkable rock formation called the <em>\u2018Chapeau de Gendarme\u2019<\/em>, a little marvel by the roadside.<br \/>Every Monday of Pentecost, the faithful gather for an annual pilgrimage that leaves from the church of Saint-Lupicin to reach the chapel of Saint-Romain.\u00a0 The church of Saint-Lupicin houses the tomb and relics of this saint as well as those of his brother, Saint Romain. This year, I had the grace to participate in the pilgrimage with a partner and a friend. The resident priest, a native of Congo, welcomed us and guided us through the history of the church and the lives of the saints. At the entrance of the Saint-Romain chapel is exposed the image of a donkey\u2019s head: it symbolizes humility and gentleness&#8230; these <em>&#8220;inseparable&#8221;<\/em> virtues mentioned in our Rule of life!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Near the cathedral, we entered a remarkable museum retracing the history of two local know-hows: pipe making and diamond cutting. There is a room where, each year, new members are inducted into the Brotherhood of Master Pipers.
