{"id":4698,"date":"2023-02-09T11:46:21","date_gmt":"2023-02-09T10:46:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fillesstesprit.org\/?p=4698"},"modified":"2023-02-09T12:40:27","modified_gmt":"2023-02-09T11:40:27","slug":"sottak-catherine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fillesstesprit.org\/en\/sottak-catherine\/","title":{"rendered":"SOTTAK Catherine"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sister&#8217;s name: <strong><em>Sister <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Catherine Th\u00e9r\u00e8se<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong>Year of profession: 1949<br \/>\nAge: 93 years old<br \/>\nDate and place of death: February 7, 2023 at St. Joseph&#8217;s Life Center, Windham, CT<br \/>\n<strong>Date and place of funeral: Monday, February 13, 2023 at St. Joseph Church, Willimantic, CT<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ministry:<br \/>\n<\/strong>From 1949 to 1976, Sr. Catherine taught in the following schools:\u00a0 All Hallows, Moosup, CT; St. Mary\u2019s, Putnam, CT; St. Joseph, Burlington, VT; \u00a0St. Anthony, Bridgeport, CT; \u00a0including serving as principal of St. Martin de Porres School in Gadsden, AL for 15 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After receiving her LPN certificate in 1978 she worked in migrant ministry in Princess Ann, MD.\u00a0 Later, she continued nursing at St. Joseph Villa and the Provincial House, both in Putnam, CT.\u00a0 Sr. Catherine had long felt a call to become a missionary and in 1983 she became a missionary-nurse in a pre-natal clinic in Ile Ife, Nigeria. When Sr. Catherine returned to the United States she continued nursing at the Provincial House in Putnam, CT. In1986 Sr. Catherine returned to St. Martin de Porres in Gadsden, AL as pastoral assistant where she was involved in ministry to the poor.\u00a0 In 1988 she went to Jeremie, Haiti as a missionary for a brief time.\u00a0 From 1990 to 2005 Sr. Catherine worked with the Visiting Nurses\u2019 Association in Waterbury, CT. She then returned to the Provincial House where she served as sacristan.
