Earth Day has been celebrated since 1970 on April 22nd. Each year there is a wide variety of events marking the day. There are prayers, speakers, music, cleanups, declarations from community and government leaders. In the US, the Province hosted the Earth Day celebration sponsored by the Greater Putnam Interfaith Council to which they belong. The evening consisted of speakers and music as well as prayers from different faith traditions including Catholic, Episcopalian, Methodist, Baptist, Jewish and Bah\u00e1\u02bc\u00ed.\u00a0 In Nigeria, the Sisters are planting trees as they begin to mark the 60th anniversary of the DHS there. They are involving others, especially school children, in this endeavor.\u00a0 In Cameroon, the focus was on picking up plastic waste and in sharing grains they had grown with their neighbors.
