The Washington Women’s Walk
DHS “Walk justly with our god” and millions of others.
On Saturday, January 21st the whole world seemed to rally under a united banner to advance the cause of justice and to protect basic human/women’s rights. Marches in Paris, London, Sidney, etc., underscored the seriousness of this purpose and the involvement of millions of people around the globe.
For the Daughters of the Holy Spirit in the USA who are called to “live, act and proclaim peace in Gospel boldness”, participation in the Washington Women’s Walk was a natural response. At the local level Sisters and Associates (See photo below: Sr. Gertrude Lanouette, Michele Bisaillon et Associee, Connie Knowles) traveled to the state capital, Hartford, to join the thousands of justice and peace-seeking women and men to deliver their clear message in the hopes that our president and those in positions of influence and /or authority might take this united cry to heart and resolve to indeed make our country one that assures equality, respect, freedom and justice for all, barring no individual or group.
It is in this attitude of collaboration with others and with the Spirit of the Risen Christ that we strive to continue the good work initiated by this walk and invite you to join us by offering your support of prayer and concrete deeds as appropriate to your specific situation and location. It is by working together in love and openness to the signs of the Spirit and the promise of Christ: “Ask and you shall receive” (MT 7:7-8) that justice will predominate and “all will have life, and have it to the full” (John 10).
