“What are you looking for?”
The camp of the DHS Aspirants in Cameroon took place on 10-13 April 2017, bringing together thirteen young girls from Maroua-Mokolo and Yagoua dioceses, accompanied by five Sisters. We were warmly welcomed by the sisters of Makabaye community. The basic sharing with the aspirants and theme of the session was “Marie Balavenne, foundress of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit”. The inputs were given by Sr Justride Bessiri and Marthe Debaiwa. Concerning the Eucharistic celebrations, we benefited from the availability of Father Marcel Fopoussi, a Pallotin priest and Simon Foudama, a diocesan priest who both led us to reflect on the question: “What are you looking for?”
It was a very enriching moment for us. We much appreciated the young girls’ participation in the various inputs, their openness and willingness to continue to journey alongside the Daughters of the Holy Spirit.
Before we left, as the sending on mission, Sr Justride gave each one a dove on which she had written one of Marie Balavenne’s attitudes: Woman of great simplicity, humble woman, woman willing to help, warm-hearted woman, woman at the service of the poor, the sick, woman inflamed with God’s love… Each and everyone expressed their desire to bear witness to the love of God poured by the Holy Spirit into Marie Balavenne’s and Renée Burel’s hearts and also into our hearts.
We thank Sr Pauline and her council to have made this camp happen; we also thank the sisters of Makabaye community for their welcome and loving support.
