Nigeria. Celebration of the closing...

The closing celebration of the year " Marie Balavenne " took place on the 24th of June, 2017 at Ilesa, Osun State.

This joyful day began with an opening Mass led by the Dean of Ilesa deanery, Rev Fr. Patrick Ajayi. There were lots of symbols displayed by the different communities such as the symbol/Icon of the Blessed Trinity, the painting of two hands which signifies prayer and service, the symbol of the first house of charity which has many branches today including Nigeria, our Rule of Life which guide our way of life. The homilist was Rev Fr. Ambrose Olasinde. In his homily, he remind us of the story of our beginning…  He urged us to continue to live simple and humble life made visible in our mission and service to the children, women with special emphasis on the less privilege. After we had communed with God, each of us put on our dancing shoes to thank God for the gift that Marie Balavenne and Renee Burel were, and are still through us today.

After the Mass, there were different presentations by all the communities, the DHS Associates, and the youth of St. Lawrence’s Catholic Church.

Different communities came with different items to sell at the market place. These items were products from our communities, farm, projects and those made within the mission. The proceeds from the sales will be used in assisting the poor in the society, this was done at different stores representing villages around our beginnings, places like: Mazan, Le Legue, St. Brieuc, Ile Blanche, Taden and Plerin.

For us Daughters of the Holy Spirit, this remarkable day will always be remembered in our lives as sisters and associates, as will as in the history of the vice Province of Nigeria.
