Ministry: Imelda was an educator during her entire professional career as a religious. She worked with students of all grade levels in a multitude of school settings. She was a pioneer in accepting to minister as a 'home missionary' in the southern part of the USA in the state of Alabama. She was associated with St. Martin School in Gadsden where she assured that students had a solid basic education and that their families would be well prepared to cope with life's difficulties, especially the challenges of poverty in the deep south. Sister also dedicated time and energy to lending a helping hand in a popular Retreat Center in West Hartford, Connecticut before finally retiring to the Provincial House and eventually moving to Windham where she was jubilant to celebrate her 101st birthday last December with her favorite cake and chocolate ice cream. Imelda's legacy, honesty and sense of humor will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
