A Novitiate experience in Ngaoundéré

To begin the Novitiate, we had the joy of gathering together, we novices with the postulants and the sisters, in Ngaoundéré on September 7th, while receiving a fraternal welcome from the Oblate brothers of Mary Immaculate.

Then from the 13th to the 19th of September, we started off with a retreat at the " Foyer de Charité " (Charity Home), the place of animation for spiritual retreats. This retreat prepared us for our official entry into the Novitiate, on Saturday September 22nd in Garoua, in the presence of all the sisters, gathered in a Vice-Provincial assembly, who supported us by their simplicity, their sorority and their prayers. Thus, having become novices, we are discovering little by little who are the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, through the courses on the Rule of Life, the History of the Congregation, the Source Texts, the Gospel of Luke… we also benefit twice a month, from a common course with the novices of the Congregation of Notre Dame du Mont Real: in particular the E.V.C (Spiritual Exercises in the Everyday Life). We live in community with Sister Judith and Hélène. They lead us to develop a sense of living together through attention, listening, mutual dialogue and the multiple community services. We continue to develop our spiritual life through monthly recollection, Mass with the Oblates and prayer in community. We also sometimes participate to the mass at the Ngaoundéré Prison and at the Bamyanga Parish. On Sunday afternoons we discover our neighborhood by visiting people.

The Christmas Holidays that we came to live had a special shine for each one of us by participating to the mass with the Faithful Christian of the Chapel of Wakwa, located nearby, and by taking the holiday meal with the novitiate community of the Oblates and former members of the Foyer de Charité in a very fraternal joyful atmosphere.

We feel wonderful in our formation community and are happy to welcome the wealth that this step offers us. We wish you a peaceful, joyful and bright Christmas as well as a happy new year 2019. We assure you of our prayers and we also count on yours.
