Our pilgrimage to the Sources

We Young Sisters, Daughters of the Holy Spirit of the Vice-Province of Cameroon and Nigeria, have come to France, to the sources of the Congregation, to feel, see and touch the different realities of our humble origins. From July 29th to August 1st 2019, by visiting the various places where our first Sisters lived, we have learned a lot about their lives. We were truly moved by their sacrifice: the gift they gave of themselves, their willingness to the poor, the sick, the children and the elderly. We also have been struck by the warm welcome, the kindness of the people who live in the houses of our origins.

We realized how the first Daughters of the Holy Spirit led their community life, including prayers and shared meals. They continued their “charity mission” together even through the difficulties they encountered.

For us the challenge of this pilgrimage was learning to share more of our daily experiences, be more acquainted with our congregation's history, allowing us to pass it down to generations to come.

With all these rich experiences, we believe that the first Sisters and those who helped them have always been led by the Holy Spirit. And we continue to believe that the same Spirit is always at work today.

We are very grateful to God and to the Congregation for this time of return to the sources.
