60th Birthday of Sr. Mary (DHS)

On the 17th of August 2019, was a joyful, happy and memorable day in the Vice-province of Nigeria. As we gathered together to celebrate the 60th birthday of Sr. Mary Ogbuehi. Being the first of its kind in our Vice – province, it was indeed a peak moment of joy for us.

The celebration began with the Holy Mass of thanksgiving to God the giver and sustainer of life. The Holy Mass was well attended by the parishioners of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ipetumodu, her biological and religious families, friends, Staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ipetumodu, which is her present place of mission. Staff of Holy Spirit Catholic Clinic and Maternity, Ipetu-ijesa and St. Mary’s Rehabilitation and Development Centre, Ipetumodu.

The Chief celebrant was the Vicar general of the Catholic diocese of Osogbo, Rev. Fr. Thaddeus Ajayi, who in the same capacity represented the Bishop of the diocese, Most Rev. John Oyejola. Other priests present were Rev. Fr. Clement Akinwale, the Dean of the deanery, Rev. Fr. Francis Ilonwa CMF, the Parish priest of St. Augustine, and the Homilist, Rev. Fr. Peter Adeyemi.

The Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Children of Mary and Joseph (Holy Childhood), the Youth from the parish and our novices, entertained all present with different cultural displays and songs during the reception.

The celebrant, Sr. Mary Ogbuehi, expressed her joy and gratitude through smiles, dance and songs of praise to God and all present for celebrating with her the joy of her birth.

We thank God for blessing Sr. Mary Ogbuehi with life and we pray that God may continue to sustain her with good health of mind and body.
