The program started with the Celebration of the Eucharist presided by Rev. Fr. Ajayi Thaddeus, Vicar General of the Diocese. In his homily, he described people with Special needs as people who have one disability or the other and invited people present to show empathy and a holistic approach to helping them. The Vicar said the celebration of people with special needs should not be limited to Catholics Church alone, it should be spread across various religious beliefs and ethnic groups.

After Mass, the newly constructed and renovated buildings were commissioned by the Bishop: vocational building, boys and girls hostels, kitchen, laundry, candle machine, New art studio, and the borehole.

During the reception, the pupils of St Mary’s Rehab Centre presented a short choreography. To grace the occasion, the Bishop presented Christmas gifts to all the pupils present.
