Vice-Province of Burkina Faso: the Chapter
We have begun our Vice-Provincial Chapter this Thursday December 26th in Bafor at the Cistercian monastery in Diébougou. The fifteen sisters of the Vice-Province were present. We all met at 12:30 PM for the meal: each community had brought a well-prepared plate to share for our joyfull sisterhood Christmas dinner, wishing each other happy holidays.
After dinner, we all met at 3 PM for the opening prayer of this second Vice-Province Chapter facilitated by the Vice-provincial Sister Olga Kiendrebeogo. She invited us to open ourselves to the grace of the Holy Spirit. Then together we listened to the Gospel of Mark 6,50 "It is I, do not fear only believe", followed by a sharing in the form of a prayer where each of us could simply express what touches us in the Chapter theme.
Then the Vice-Provincial proceeded to the call of the delegates (who has a voice in a Chapter), that is 12 Sisters of perpetual vows and officially declared the opening of the 2019 Chapter. We jointly recited the Our Father and sang a Marian song. Sister Olga introduced us to the facilitator, Sister Jeanne-Marie from the Congregation of 'Sisters of Providence de la Pommeraye', whom we welcomed with joy: she will help us in our reflexions and discernments in the perspective of the upcoming General Chapter. The message of the Superior General and the counselors was read, ensuring us of their prayers and their fraternal encouragement.
After the evening meal, we met up to vote for the Procedure text of the Chapter and Sister Jeanne-Marie introduced the recollection time: "Better understanding of ourselves to live with others." This brought to an end our first day.

December 27th. The Mass was celebrated by His Excellency Monsignor Der Raphael Dabire, Bishop of the Diebougou Diocese who came with three of his priests, to wish us a good start in our Chapter and a good reflection in our discernment work.
During the day, with questionnaires as support: - a reflection on "Self-awareness" to open ourselves to confidence. - Re-reading of the Vice-province life over the past six years. By this, we mean taking into deeper consideration the structure of the Vice-Province and signs of life!
We ended the day by an evening prayer entrusting all our reflections and questions to "Mary, our advocate upon the Holy Spirit."
