With our incarcerated brothers...
On January 1st, 2020, in the solemnity of Mary Mother of God and of the new year, we lived the Eucharistic celebration with our incarcerated brothers at the maximum security prison of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, place of Sister Olga's Apostolate.
Father Cardinal Philippe, Archbishop of Ouagadougou, who presided the celebration, urged the inmates to trust in God like the Blessed Mary, that hope must never be lost nor God 's love for us. He also challenged us personally and as a whole to be people of peace in our respective living environments through tolerance and mercy towards one another. He particularly invited the inmates to morally and spiritually support each other instead of making their lives more difficult as it is. And ending his homily we commemorated all the victims of terrorism attacks which are severly hitting our country since 2015.
At the end of the celebration the inmates expressed their appreciation for this beautiful encounter on this first day of this new year and underlined their gratitude for the support and encouragement they receive through the presence of Sister Olga among them. The visit of the inmates in their cells enabled the Cardinal to extend his best wishes and to receive their grievances.
Then we had the joy of Welcoming Father Cardinal in our Kossodo community, as well as a few members of our CCB (Basic Christian Community) who came to wish us "Happy New Year". We prayed together in our Chapel prior the Cardinal's new year benediction and his encouragement for our respective missions.
