Go back to the heritage
There was great excitement and joy on the 27th June, 2020 as the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, Nigerian Vice-province, celebrated the Final Profession of vows of sr. Grace Abah, sr. Adenike Adeniran, sr. Chidinma Ahamefula, sr. Theresa Anthony and sr. Patience Effiong.
Amidst the challenges and silence brought by COVID-19 Pandemic to the whole world and especially the lockdown which affected the Church, there was a joyful and lively celebration at St. Benedict’s Catholic Cathedral, Osogbo in the Catholic diocese of Osogbo as we processed with the Bishops and priests to the altar for what God is about to do in the life of our five sisters. The Chief celebrant, was the Catholic Bishop of Osogbo diocese, Most Rev. Dr. John Akinkunmi Oyejola with the presence of three other bishops; Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Abegunrin of the Archdiocese of Ibadan, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo of Osogbo diocese and the Emeritus Bishop of Ilorin diocese, Most Rev. Ayo-Maria Atoyebi alongside with few Priests and Religious Families of our sisters to be professed.
The homilist, Rev. Fr Kanu Ikechukwu of the Order of St. Augustine, in his homily, encouraged the five sisters and all of us to go back to the heritage of the Congregation which we received to serve God and the Church through the poor. To live our lives as true DHS by allowing the Holy Spirit to be at the centre of all that we do. Furthermore, he invited us to avoid the following enemies of Consecrated life that can lead us astray: pride, division,self-centredness, non-availability that makes us too official to be approached.
The Celebration was simple due to less population but it was glorious. To God be the GLORY for adding to our number, we thank the Superior General, Sr. Anne-Marie Foucher and her Council. We are very grateful to you our sisters from the different units of our Congregation for your love and prayerful support.
