In the Novitiate: Reception Celebration
On Monday 23rd November 2020, in Ngaoundéré, Vice-Province of Cameroon, four young people were officially received into the Novitiate of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit. We give thanks to God for this wonderful day!
At 5:00 pm, in the chapel, during a celebration which opened with background music, followed by a time of prayer, the Vice-Provincial of Cameroon, Sister Angèle, and the sisters of the novitiate community welcomed us.
During the time of prayer, each one of us shared our vocation history. We retain from this special day the reading of the book of Sirach 2. 1-11: God calls us, but the response to his call comes through obedience to his Word. We have taken upon ourselves this invitation to open ourselves to his Word and to those responsible for our formation. May his grace accompany us.
The symbols received; the cross, the lighted candle and the Rule of Life - mark for us the beginning of life in the Congregation. Committed together for the same goal, we thought it would be good to have a common symbol: the traditional broom; made up of a handful of strands, simply held together by a string, it represents for us unity, because we need each other for support and to advance in this stage of initial formation to religious life in the novitiate.
It was a great day for us! We entrust our formation to the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin Mary and we count on the spiritual support of all our sisters in the Congregation.
