Welcoming the Risen Jesus into our "Galilee"

"Jesus Christ is risen! It is to him that we turn our gaze so that he can heal the wounds of afflicted humanity’’ Pope Francis.

In Huaura, in the Lima region of Peru, we experienced an intense Holy Week: a week of awareness, reflection and prayer. The whole liturgy was celebrated virtually but full of life and fraternal communion. On Holy Thursday, according to the liturgy, each family was invited to perform the gesture of washing of feet; in community, we also made this gesture of service to each other. On Good Friday, the celebration of the 7 words of Christ on the cross by different people integrated well our reality of human suffering, marked by the situation of the pandemic.

Our Archbishop, Carlos Castillo, affirmed that the Christian faith is a joy and that there are three ways of living this faith: seeking to know, to understand and to believe. Faith is a relationship, it makes us enter into active communication by witnessing from our homes, hospitals, communities and regions. Our God calls us to be reborn each day, to welcome Jesus into our Galilee, to come out of our tombs to identify the light in the midst of darkness. Our Archbishop ended his homily by inviting us to ask ourselves: what can we do together, as a family, as a community, to live our faith as a sign of hope?

Happy Easter. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
