What an unforgettable day, 22 September 2025! Who could imagine what we, Alphonsine, Charlène, Irène, Félicité and Emilienne, really felt?
It all began five days before D-Day, with a retreat during which each of us took the time to listen to and talk with God. We were guided in our prayer by Sister Pauline MAÏSSENSO, our novice mistress.
Monday began, as usual, with morning Mass in the parish. After breakfast, each of us set about our tasks: decorating, cooking, cleaning… what wonderful preparations!
From 5:25 pm, we, the future novices, were dressed in our uniforms, sitting in the chapel, looking beautiful in our blue and white outfits, the colours of our advocate, the Virgin Mary. We were surrounded by the sisters of the community, the second-year novices, some parishioners from Marza, and priests who had come to support us and witness the religious event of the day. Sister Bertine Bayang, delegate of the Vice-Provincial and member of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit,
As symbols, we chose clay and a vase to represent our journey, the vase being what we will become at the end of our training. In order to achieve the form desired by the potter (God), we are called, like clay, to allow ourselves to be moulded by virtues such as docility, availability, openness, trust and willingness. This is our wish for our lives during the period of formation and throughout our lives.
Sister Bertine first gave each of us the novitiate cross, then the Rule of Life of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit. The joy was evident on our faces: during the Magnificat, we had the opportunity to express this joy through dance steps.
After the closing prayer, we went to the great hall for the reception where we tasted the joy of cultural diversity, whether through the different dishes presented or the dance steps in Dagara, Mooré, Toupouri, Fufuldé, etc.
The ceremony ended on a high note, and we would like to thank the Congregation for welcoming us with joy, our sisters, and the parishioners who worked hard to make this ceremony a success. May the Lord be blessed for his abundant graces that help us every day in our lives.
