I met Francine MARIE when I was living in Tremblay, near Paris, more than thirty years ago! Sister Marie-Madeleine Guihard, Daughter of the Holy Spirit, had put us in touch and subsequently our fraternal friendship was strengthened throughout the formation process with a view to becoming Associates of the FSE. And it was on March 6, 2010, in the chapel of the Little Sisters of the Poor, in Paris, that together with others we celebrated our commitment as Associate.
Despite our move to Brittany, Daniel and I had strong bonds of friendship with Francine who gave us news from her children and grandchildren… Moreover, for several years, Francine had been facing a cancer for which she was still being treated. Because of the after-effects of numerous treatments, she no longer followed the team meetings of the Paris-Charenton group but remained, in her heart and through her prayer life, a faithful associate of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit.
During our last telephone conversation, on July 12, 2026, Francine spoke about her plan – if only her health allowed it – to travel to Lourdes next October for the pilgrimage of the sick. But on the evening of the feast of the Assumption, Mary, the “Gate of Heaven”, came to take her with her. Isn’t that a blessing for Francine who loved Marie so much!
The funeral celebration will take place on Thursday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. in Montry, Seine-et-Marne. Francine will then rest near her husband.
