Farewell to the Sisters of Antofagasta

In his farewell, Jesus gathered his disciples together and gave them a mission in preparation for the last supper. Each disciple, knowing Jesus, listened attentively to him and received his last words, perhaps sensing that he would no longer be with them physically…

And so it was for each of us who carried out a mission in our city of Antofagasta, CHILE, as we bid farewell to the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit.  And for all of us who have shared with the Sisters for so many years, who have been accompanied and guided, and who were present at this last celebration.  Our archbishop underlined the goodness and the work of the sisters who are leaving us… Everything had been well prepared for this departure, and no detail had been left to chance, just like the dedication, sacrifice and love that the Sisters have shown us. We know that we will no longer have them physically, but their teaching and dedication will remain forever in our hearts, as a heritage and a mission to be respected and fulfilled in our apostolate.

It was a wonderful moment of sharing, where mutual aid and friendship were in evidence: generosity, kindness, dedication, an unconditional and joyful welcome.  The good memories, the legacy and the mission remain with us… a task of love to be accomplished, with the certainty that the Sisters will not abandon us, because they will continue to watch over and care for us all, forever.
