In a spirit of gratitude and joy, our congregation officially opened in KENYA on October 25, 2025, during a Eucharistic celebration at Eldama Ravine, two new communities
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Francis Chepkuto, parish priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Eldama Ravine, with Fr. Francis Mungo, administrator of the missionary hospital of Mercy, who delivered the homily.
In his inspiring homily, Fr. Mungo reflected on the rich legacy of missionary work at Eldama Ravine and shared a brief history of Mission Mercy Hospital. He reminded us that it is the Spirit “who cannot be reduced” who has brought us together from different parts of the world to continue the mission of evangelization in Kenya. He recalled that challenges come with diversity – different backgrounds, cultures and experiences – while stressing that we are all called to witness the Gospel in unity and love.
After receiving Holy Communion, Sister Abiola ADIGBOLUJA, one of our General Councilors, read a moving letter from our Superior General, Sister Ann ALMODOVAR. In her message, Sister Ann encouraged the sisters to serve the people of Kenya with humility and gentleness and together build “a house of charity” rooted in faith and mutual respect.
Before the closing hymn, several guests shared brief words of gratitude and encouragement. Sister Anne DONNELLY, General Treasurer of the congregation, expressed her deep gratitude to all those who made possible the establishment of these two new communities.
The celebration was graced by the presence of parishioners from St. Patrick’s Church, staff from the Mercy Mission Hospital, our neighbors and many happy children from the local community: their presence added color and warmth to this memorable occasion.
As we begin this new chapter of our history in KENYA, we carry with us the words of our Superior General and the blessing of all who have celebrated with us, confident that the Spirit-Saint will continue to guide our mission of love and service among the people of KENYA and beyond.
