A time to stop and marvel

“In a noisy world, marked by the race to the clock, it is often difficult to take time to be together for free, and yet we need it so much … It is here that we see how well God knows us and shows us a path to profound happiness: this necessarily involves withdrawal, silence, contemplation, and attention to the presence of others and of God” Sister Silvie ROAMBA

In the Vice-Province of Burkina Faso, we have just held our end-of-year assembly in the community of Koudougou, from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 June 2025, which was attended by all the other communities of Phariyago, Diébougou-Foyer Marie BALAVENNE, Diébougou-Bagane and Ouagadougou. At around 1pm on 27 June, the entire Vice-Province was present.
To the sound of tom-toms, as if to gather us around Christ, the meeting began with a time of adoration.

Then he was happy to see us having lunch with a good appetite, expressing the joy of a reunion lived in listening, sharing and fraternity. We took this time to stop and marvel at the action of the Holy Spirit in our lives, in the Congregation and in our world. “There is no such thing as a road blocked forever!” With this in mind, we shared the results of our activities in the light of the Vice-Province Orientation. At the crossroads, we expressed our views on the economy and on a number of points relating to our lives together.
We took advantage of this gathering to express our gratitude to Sister FATOUMATA DA Delphine for her service as bursar to the Vice-Province since 2016: she has been a great encouragement to Sister Amélie ZOUGMORE, who is succeeding her in this service.

On the evening of Saturday 28 June, after the early Mass on Sunday, we enjoyed a good, relaxed meal of fritters with sautéed vegetables, commonly known as gnougou: ‘When you live simply and naturally, you have fewer ailments’, as the saying goes!”

We fraternised well and gave thanks to God. Before the end of the assembly, the sisters who were changing community received their letter of obedience from the Vice-Provincial. Following this, we received information from the Vice-Province and the Congregation. We finished with a fraternal meal and each sister returned to her community.
The coming months will be a time for family visits, retreats and training sessions.
