Jubilee of the consecrated

From 4 to 6 November 2025, the Ecclesiastical Province of Garoua -Northern Region, CAMEROON-, celebrated the closing of the Jubilee of the consecrated under the theme: “Pilgrims of hope on the path of peace with Mary”.

More than 200 men and women religious participated in this major meeting, coming from the four dioceses of the province: Garoua, Maroua-Mokolo, Yagoua and Ngaoundéré. During these three days, the consecrated persons lived intense moments of prayer, fraternity and sharing, all guided by the maternal figure of Mary, star of hope.

The celebration was marked by several spiritual and fraternal activities: – the Way of the Cross, meditated in a spirit of conversion and compassion; – a special prayer to obtain indulgence, lived as a time of inner reconciliation and times of adoration and silent prayer; – the presentation of the charisms specific to each congregation; – a sharing on the arrival of each congregation in Cameroon and their mission in the Church and society; – a cultural evening rich in dances, games, fashion show and artistic expressions, testifying to the joy and diversity of religious families.
Monsignor Bruno Ateba EDO, Bishop of Maroua-Mokolo presided over this closing Mass of the Jubilee of the consecrated. In his homily he invited consecrated people to remain bearers of love and hope, despite the many challenges that Cameroon and the whole world are facing. “Be the salt of the earth and the light of the world”, he recalled, “a light that enlightens, that warms hearts and guides those who seek a path.” He also encouraged the consecrated to be people who give back life and joy in life, men and women who forgive and accept forgiveness, artisans of reconciliation, communion and peace, witnesses who, following the example of Mary, choose hope where there is fear and peace where there are divisions.  May this Jubilee, lived in fraternity and prayer, be a source of joy, peace and love for us so as to radiate the tenderness of Christ.

Strengthened by these days of grace, we left renewed to continue our mission with faith, courage, and hope.
