Earth Day

Earth Day was first celebrated on April 22, 1970.
Sister Pascaline (Peru) and Sister Clementine (Burkina Faso), both members of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit’s International “Laudato Si” Commission, have created a prayer based on the writings of Pope Francis in his encyclical “Laudato Si”.  Our congregation will be able to say this prayer every day as part of a novena for the Earth, reciting it during the 9 days leading up to Earth Day, April 13-21, 2023.  Join us.

For Earth Day, April 22, 2023

Father God, Lord of life and of the universe, receive with love this prayer that the Congregation Daughters of the Holy Spirit raises to you.
O God of the humble, who is present in the smallest of your creatures and who gives us the grace to listen to the cry of the Earth and the Poor every day. Help us to help the abandoned (children, migrants, those who live in situations of war, terrorism, natural disasters, the elderly left behind, the sick) and the forgotten of this Earth who are worth so much in your eyes.
Holy Spirit, heal our lives so that we may be protectors of the world and not predators. Give us the strength to sow beauty and not pollution and destruction. Flood us with peace to live as Brothers and Sisters without causing harm to anyone. Touch the hearts of those who seek only profits at the expense of the Earth and the Poor. Transform us and the face of the Earth will be renewed.
Virgin Mary our Advocate, teach us to discover the value of everything, to know how to contemplate, to marvel, to recognize that we are deeply united with all creatures and we must take care of them.

May Marie Balavenne and Renée Burel support our struggle for Justice, Peace and Love. Amen !
