What a chance to have a community of friendly sisters to give thanks!
It was August 29: my mother, Thérèse VEILLḖ, turned 100 years old! My mother has been at the nursing home in Lann Eol, Sainte-Anne-d’Auray, Brittany region, France for 5 years. I live in Plescop, a town 16 km away; for 15 years I have participated in the celebrations of the Shrine of Ste-Anne d’Auray.
So we met the sisters of the community of Daughters of the Holy Spirit: Anne, Therese, Jeannette, Christiane, Bernadette, Hélène, Marie-Ange, Mathilde and many others… Sisters so attentive: some come by to say a ‘hi’ in the rooms; there are also parties, snacks, games, the library, the garden… and without forgetting the sacristy and the video of the Mass, where they bring communion to people who cannot move. Every Friday we have the chance to have a lively mass, either in the large chapel or in a heated or air-conditioned room depending on the season, and I am happy myself to be able to animate the mass from time to time.
The sisters quickly become our friends -they call us by our first name- and their smiles are really precious… This day of August 29th remains unforgettable for our family: the sisters allowed us to use the chapel to celebrate 100 years. Mom’s three children were present with their children and grandchildren… (not all, because mom has 4 children, 17 grandchildren and 37 great-little ones…) Father Jean le Berrigaud agreed to come celebrate the Mass whose 3 big words are considered as pillars of a holy and full life: Faith, Joy, and Love… “Abide in my Love and your joy will be perfect!”
Mom was very moved when the sisters present came to kiss her and wish her a happy birthday! Thank you, dear sisters! You are from our family: ours, and that of Christ with the Virgin Mary and St. Anne. With you, we prayed, sang, praised and gave thanks for our mother’s health and her full life. A big thank you, dear sisters.
