On Saturday, June 7, 2025, the end-of-year ceremony was held at the Vocational Training Center for Youth and Women of the Catholic Mission of Touroua, in the Archdiocese of Garoua, in northern Cameroon.
On that day, five “learners” received their training completion certificates after three years of study in several fields: sewing, livestock farming, agriculture, catering, literacy and crafts. The ceremony also featured several highlights: the national anthem, words of thanks, poems, the presentation of certificates and report cards, traditional and modern dances, and the sale of fruit produced by the students.
The graduates, surrounded by their parents, friends and acquaintances, expressed their appreciation and gratitude first to the Lord, who is the source of all things, then to their parents, the Centre Manager, the trainers, the FSE congregation and finally to all those who contributed to their studies and entry into the world of work. In their words of thanks, they attest that they are ready to put into practice the knowledge acquired during their vocational training. They say they are determined to be financially independent, capable of taking care of themselves, helping their families and contributing to the development of society. Proud of their professional training, they emphasise in one of their poems that all professions are equal!
As the centre’s manager, I emphasised that vocational training is essential for acquiring the practical and theoretical skills needed to succeed in various areas of life. It enables learners to develop their abilities and increase their chances of finding employment or starting their own businesses. I congratulate the graduates for their perseverance and passion during their training.
