Training Center “Renée Burel”

Reopened in October 2023 by the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, and placed under the responsibility of Sister Justride who was the director for the year 2023/2024, the “Renée Burel” Training Center in CAMEROON welcomed 20 “female learners” from the Mayo-Moskota district and Koza.
These “learners” have followed a complete training in sewing, embroidery, cooking, literacy, education to life and love…

At the end of the training, thanks to the support of the diocesan Caritas of Maroua-Mokolo, each of the twenty learners was provided with a sewing machine. In 2024/2025, the Center enrolled eighty-nine (89) new “apprentices” including displaced women, teenage mothers, and vulnerable girls from the boroughs of Mayo-Moskota and Koza.

To the old curriculum were added the following disciplines: mixed sewing, hygiene and morals, agri-food and cosmetic processing, physical and sports education, and manual work. For the 2025/2026 year – the Center will open from October to May – there were fifty-four “thirty-four” female learners at the end of the year; the training completion certificates have been issued to them.
For the last two years, the Centre has been regularly involved in activities marking the celebration of national youth holidays and the celebration of International Women’s Day.

At the end of the 2025/2026 academic year, the first student in class benefited from a sewing machine that was offered by the “Renée BUREL” Training Center, but… The young girls in this same class also each wanted a sewing machine to continue improving themselves, taking care of themselves while benefiting from self-financing… May the Center, one day, be able to respond to their development and autonomy projects!
