Testimony given during the meeting of DHS partners in Antofagasta – Chile, in April 2026.
“I was sitting looking at the Stations of the Cross in the church where I go to mass and I noticed that one of the crosses looked so small and so pale… So I thought: I could make these crosses in wool since it’s my hobby -Iwork with wool or yarn everywhere, I always think about my creations-.
Once the 14 crosses were ready, I brought them into the church so they could be installed. But we didn’t take them… and they were returned to me. So I thought: “I have an appointment with the partners: they will be well received.” And I set to work to make them happy.
The young woman who looks after my husband, who has been ill for three years, helped me choose the sentences for the illustrations in the booklet. Once it was printed, I kept telling him: “Don’t forget that the cross must have an important place in the booklet; it was important to me.“
The result is magnificent. What started with a few knitted crosses turned into a strong message for my DHS colleagues.
