Our diocese of Huacho, PERU, celebrated its Diocesan Youth Day on September 21, 2024. Huaral, one of the diocese’s parishes, was this year’s venue.
In the presence of over 600 young people, accompanied by a number of priests and religious, the day began with a welcome for all the delegations, followed by Eucharistic adoration, where the young people discovered the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The Mass, presided over by Monsignor Antonio SANTARSIERO, Bishop of the Diocese of Huacho, was rich in teaching: he invited young people to be builders of hope, especially in this opening year of the Jubilee Year of Youth, and to take Mary as an example of faith, for she teaches us the merciful love of Jesus, in whom we find joy, peace and hope. “Young people, hunger and thirst for God. Be a synodal community. Seek him with all your heart and give him your whole life to find the greatest gift, the best gift, which is to be a disciple of Christ. Don’t be afraid to take Mary home as your Mother”. The young people were challenged on the importance of the priestly, religious vocation: ”Don’t be afraid to open your heart to God’s tenderness: giving your life to Christ is a grace! ”
During this beautiful day, we experienced strong moments of friendship, solidarity, mutual aid, listening, sharing and joy. The day ended with a grand concert of religious music organized by the young people of the Huaral parish.
